SMT (surface mount technology) is an English abbreviation, which means surface assembly process in Chinese. It is a relatively new electronic assembly technology. It compresses traditional electronic components into devices with a volume of only a few tens of parts. Surface mounting is not a new concept. It originates from earlier processes, such as paperback and hybrid mounting.
