What is about single-layer carrier tape and multi-layer carrier tape

Recently, a customer asked about single-layer carrier tape and multi-layer carrier tape. Here is a brief introduction for you.

Carrier tape is a product used to package various electronic components. It is called “led carrier tape” according to different attributes. For example, it is specially used to package LED products; The standard carrier bandwidth is called “x wide carrier”, for example, the bandwidth of 8mm is called “8 wide carrier”; “3528 carrier tape” named according to the model of the packaged product, etc. Single layer carrier tape and multi-layer carrier tape are also a name, but they are not named according to the product, but according to the number of layers of carrier tape packed in a plastic tray (paper tray).

Single layer carrier tape means that only one layer of carrier tape is rolled in a rubber disc. Single layer carrier tape is a conventional packaging mode, because in this mode, the carrier tape is relatively stable and safe.

Multilayer carrier tape means that multilayer carrier tape can be rolled in a rubber disc. As for the number of layers of the disc, it depends on the toughness of the carrier belt and the weight of the loaded components. Not all products are suitable for this packaging mode. For example, multi-layer packaging is not recommended for heavy or expensive components.

Compared with single-layer carrier, multi-layer carrier saves space and reduces a certain cost. All prices are relatively cheaper (not a rubber disc, but the total amount). However, the safety is not as good as that of single-layer belt, and it is vulnerable to the influence of machinery and equipment when in use. For example, the tension of the machine is unstable and the running speed is uneven. The download belt may slip or loose the belt. Of course, it doesn’t matter under normal circumstances. The reason why heavy or expensive products are not suitable for multi-layer packaging is that multi-layer carrier tapes are easily squeezed together. If they are too heavy, they may cause damage to the carrier tapes. If they are too expensive, it will be bad if the products are extruded and deformed.
