Wide application of carrier tape

Carrier tape is a plastic carrier widely used to package surface mounted electronic components such as integrated circuits, resistors, inductors, capacitors, connectors, light-emitting diodes, fuses, switches, relays, connectors, oscillators, diodes and triodes. The carrier tape is also divided into different widths according to the size of the electronic components loaded in the package. Common widths are 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, 24mm, 32mm, 44mm, 56mm, etc. With the development of the electronic market, the chip becomes smaller and smaller. Accordingly, the carrier belt is also developing in the direction of precision. At present, there are 4mm wide carrier tape on the market.—application of carrier tape

In order to protect electronic components from electrostatic damage, some precision electronic components have clear requirements for the antistatic level of the carrier belt. According to different antistatic levels, the carrier tape can be divided into three types: conductive type, antistatic type (electrostatic dissipation type) and insulating type. The commonly used carrier tape mainly includes two materials: plastic (polymer) and paper. The embossed carrier belt is mainly made of plastic materials. At present, PC carrier, PS carrier and ABS carrier are the mainstream of the market. In addition, there are some carrier tapes made of polyester, APET and other materials.—application of carrier tape

The stamping carrier tape is mainly made of paper material or polyethylene composite material. Polycarbonate material has the characteristics of high mechanical strength, good transparency, good dimensional stability, high glass transition temperature and good heat resistance. The mechanical strength of polystyrene is lower than that of polycarbonate, so it is sometimes made into three-layer composite plate with ABS to improve the tensile strength of the carrier belt. The mechanical strength of polyester material is close to that of polycarbonate, but it is a crystalline material with poor dimensional stability.—application of carrier tape

The carrier belt is used with the cover belt (upper sealing belt). Electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors and diodes are loaded and stored in the bag of the carrier belt, and a closed package is formed by sealing the cover belt above the carrier belt to protect the electronic components from pollution and damage during transportation. When installing electronic components, the cover belt is stripped, and the automatic installation device sequentially takes out the components contained in the bag through the indication hole of the carrier belt, and attaches the components to the integrated circuit board (printed circuit board).
